Cylinder shaped gilt casket, the Freedom of the City of Galway, presented to President Kennedy by P.D. Ryan, Mayor of Galway. The casket is engraved with an inscription to John F. Kennedy, with the Kennedy coat of arms on the left and seal of Galway on the right. The ends of the cylinder are decorated with Celtic knot work. The casket sits in a Connemara marble base with silver mounts, and is decorated with Celtic knot work running between the two mounts.
